Tan soulution is TanFastic Organic solution from Tampa Bay Tan. A quick dry DHA and Erythrulose blended product. The addition of Erythrulose can produce longer wear and slower tan fading.
Ultraviolet Rays Are Bad!
Alright, everyone knows UV tanning is bad for you. UV rays damage your skin. They can ultimately cause sunburn, skin cancer, aging, sun spots and premature wrinkles. In addition to damaging your skin, UV rays can also damage your eyes. They can penetrate the eyes, causing long-term damage that can lead to light sensitivity and even blindness--which is why many tanning beds make you wear protective goggles. UV rays can also lower your body's immune system, making you more vulnerable to bacteria and viral diseases. So, you probabaly don't need the following pictures to be convinced that UV = Evil...but just for fun, I found these for you!
GAHHHHHHHH! LOOK AT THAT! Yeah, constant
exposure to UV light will result in this… saggy,
leathery skin pockmarked with melanoma. But hey, I bet she looked good in her 20s and 30s! Too bad UV damage is permanent! Blech.

How to get ready for your Spray Tan appointment:
Before Your Tan:
- Waxing, pedicure, & facials should all be done at least one day prior to your tanning session.
- Shave and exfoliate with an exfoliation scrub or those little scrubby glove things. This will rid the skin of dead skin cells enabling the tan to last longer.
- No makeup, perfumes, or lotions. These can affect the absorption of DHA (the sunless tanning ingredient) resulting in streaking and minimal color.
- Deoderants should also be avoided in large amounts. If you MUST wear it for your appointment, please use it VERY sparingly! Spraying over deoderant can result in green rings around the arm pit and is impossible to remove.
- Be sure to have dark, loose fitting clothing (Mumu perhaps?) and flip flops to wear afterwards.
- Tight clothing can rub the tan off completely in some areas. I recommend waiting at least 5 hours before putting on tight clothing. And no WHITES till after your first shower.
- Females may tan nude or clothed in whatever they deem necessary. Males must wear an undergarment. Make sure clothing items are DARK! We have disposables available for purchase if you choose.
After Your Tan:
- You will see color washing off the first time you take a shower. Don't fret! This is just the surface color (bronzer) that was applied. You will continue to tan as the self-tan reaction occurs on your skin.
- Avoid perspiring, and be careful when washing your hands or other activities as this may cause tan to streak until the first shower.
- Shower in 8-12 hours using a body wash or shower gel. These contain less alkaline than regular bar soap. No scrubby gloves, wash cloths, or loofas! Exfoliation...bad!
- Moisturize twice a day with alcohol-free lotion. Hydrated skin makes your tan last longer and slows down the process of natural skin exfoliation. Alcohol based products are drying to the skin and can cause tan to fade quicker and unevenly.
- Taking long, hot baths or soaking in the pool can accelerate exfoliation of the skin and fade your tan.
- When swimming or soaking in a hot tub, use a waterproof sun screen to help seal the tan in. It will still fade a little, but this will slow down the process.
- The use of AHA's will increase exfoliation and accelerate the fading process of your tan. Example: Facial wrinkle creams.
- Do not exercise immediately following your tanning session. Excessive perspiration can affect the tanning process and the end result of your tan.
- Do not sit directly on leather or light colored fabric seats and furniture after your tanning session. Sit on a cloth ot towel instead.
While spray tanning is much healthier than sun tanning, there are some possible side effects.
Bad Color Results
Some people come out of a custom airbrush tan with a color that doesn't look right on their skin. Most likely it would be an orange hue cause by using a DHA level too dark for their complexion. It’s important to discuss the color you want to be! But it's more important to listen to me when I tell you a particular DHA level may be too dark!! Also, if you have scarring or stretch mark sites, this may hinder the DHA from 'taking' to your skin resulting in a lighter area.
Dry Skin Discoloration
Certain areas of your body might look darker than the rest after your spray tan. This is caused by dry skin soaking up more of the tanning solution than the rest of your body. This can happen on the hands, elbows, knees and ankles. Exfoliating before your appointment is an absolute must! Get your skin as soft as possible to avoid discoloration. Use a barrier cream, such as Vaseline, on these areas before your tan.
Contact With Hands
Many spray tanning addicts dislike what the tanning spray does to their hands. Spray tanning solution is very hard to wash off. Scratch that...it's impossible! If you work a lot with your hands, this can taint the things that you do. For instance, if you prepare food for your family or for customers, the chemicals may get in the meal. Avoid getting the solution on your hands when you're getting sprayed. Keep them out of the line of fire, and you should be safe. I can help you with this.
Staining
If you're not careful, you may get stains on your clothes from the spray tanning. Ensure that you are completely dry before putting on your clothes after spray tanning. Better yet, wear an outfit that you don't mind staining, and leave those expensive duds at home.
Allergies
Although rare, some people are allergic to the spray tanning solution. This can cause rashes, itchy eyes and hives. If you are susceptible to skin allergies, try a swatch of spray tanning solution before you get the full spray. I can put just a dab of the tanning solution on your skin, we wait an hour to make sure your skin is allergy-free before hopping in for the full body spray.
